Susan’s Georgia drawl is the “voice” of Hamilton Campaigns. Born and raised in Atlanta, she personifies the tradition of warm Southern hospitality.
Susan became Hamilton Campaigns’s Office Manager after spending nearly 10 years in The New York Times’ Atlanta Bureau. At The Times, Susan managed the bureau and contributed to the newspaper’s coverage of campaigns ranging from those of Presidents Bill Clinton to George W. Bush, Senators John Edwards to Jesse Helms, Governors Roy Barnes to “Fob” James, researching articles, interviewing candidates, voters and pollsters, and brainstorming with The Times’ star political reporters and editors. Not surprisingly, she fell in love with politics.
Prior to those heady years, Susan edited a Southern business magazine, Southpoint, following a 15-year career as a certified court reporter, taking down federal grand jury and court proceedings, where in some cases the course of people’s lives depended upon the accuracy of her transcripts.
At Hamilton Campaigns, she puts her reporting skills to work as a trained focus group moderator, conducting lively groups around the country. She is also responsible for the day-to-day management of operations of the office, scheduling and production—while cheerfully answering a very busy telephone.
Susan received a B.A. degree in English from the University of Georgia, and now lives in Fernandina Beach with her husband, Don.
